Contact Imrovisation Performance

Contact Imrovisation Is a free form partnering movement practice which was developed in the 1960s by a group of practitioners from fields like gymnastics, modern dance, martial arts and athletics. They experimented with the elements of fall and release, suspension and rebound, as well as the properties of touch, weight bearing and visual contact. Today the form has its own warm up exercises and contains certain established elements, however, it stays true to its roots by being open to non-dancers and holding their practice sessions as ‘jams’ rather than classes.
