Dance on Camera

This lecture will outline the basic elements of preparing a dance film including location, story-line, choreography, and angles. In this workshop, we will look site specific vs studio shoots , choice of production team, clothing, music, and post production editing. Students will also learn about the history of screendance, watch several examples of short dance films, and critically examine clips from dance movies in relationship to culture. We will talk about how to submit to a dance film festival, prepare the soundtrack, and host it on platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo.
